Recently, Google has updated their security settings which may effect some Gmail users. If attempting to add a new email connection in Crelate, you may be met with the following message:
Google has been in process of reviewing apps that use 'OAuth' permissions for security purposes. OAuth is an open standard for authorization. Commonly, OAuth is used to grant access to to different apps or websites without necessitating the sharing of your password. This allows the end user to utilize one app which will generate a token to another application to authenticate the credentialing information.
As a result of Google's changes, Google has requested a submission from Crelate to allow for this re-authentication. Crelate has currently sent over all requested documentation to Google for review and we are currently awaiting further response.
There is currently a short term solution you may take to mitigate this message.
Follow the steps below to add a new email connection:
Next, select "Other."
From here, there are 4 required fields. You'll need to enter your email address and password, followed by the below information:
SMTP Server URL: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Server Port: 465
